info:
Formed in Gdansk (Poland) in 2001, their line-up is Tomasz Garstkowiak (vocals, guitars), Magda Szkudlarek (vocals, synthesizers) and Piotr Salewski (bass guitar). Combining lo-fi songwriting with discreet electronica OTR released their critically acclaimed debut album in 2004 on Sissy Records (an independent division of BMG Poland). The follow-up "Downtown" (Kafe Delfin, 2006) contained a number of electro-pop songs with summer melodies, the sounds of analogue synthesisers and drum machines. The latest "Just Because We Were Wrong" (2008) is a collection twelve beautifully crafted songs with a touch of folk, avant-pop and bossa nova. It's more acoustic, full of vocal harmonies, strings arrangments and catchy tunes. OTR also appeared on compilations "Projekt SI 031" and "Sissy Sleeper" (along with Saint Etienne, Primal Scream, The Notwist and others). Other work includes remixes and collaborations with Polish artists (Scianka, Smolik, Pink Freud, Silver Rocket). www.myspace.com/otradio pictures of the band >>> contact: oldtimeradio@oldtimeradio.com.pl - 17.11.2008 Kafe Delfin 2006 ![]() 1. Christmas With You Downtown's reviews: Whilst the buzzing analogue synth sounds and frail melodies evoke memories of Komeit or certain quarters of the Morr Music roster, there’s an element of shoegaze revisionism at work here but not only in the music itself – even the artwork references 4AD. There’s no shortage of indietronica delights to be found on this release, whether it be the downbeat bedroom disco of the title track or the trumpet-infused Stereolab stylings of ‘She Haunts Me’, Old Time Radio manage to charm from start to finish (…) www.boomkat.com Some very very sweet electronic bedroom indie pop from this polish based outfit on the new kafe delfin label, there are elements of uptempo early stereolab, some shoegazing guitar sounds, little bits of early 4ad and some heavy bass driven eighties synth pop, the album is a real breezy collection of happy little electronic pop sounds with lots of clever touches, its all very very catchy in a late night laid back kind of way, fans of the likes of lali puna, the notwist, stereolab or broadcast should really love this. www.roadrecs.com Buy: www.boomkat.com/artist.cfm?a=13236 www.roadrecs.com www.roughtrade.com www.juno.co.uk www.amazon.de Sissy Records 2004 ![]() 1.
